Such a great discussion with NetZero Energy Design @ the 2011 RDC show in Boston. Jordan Goldman had sensible, straight-forward suggestions for how to incorporate high performance with high design. Our only regret was not having more time to speak with him after re: solar, geothermal, right-sized HVAC systems etc.

How does good design enhance high performance and how does the goal of high performance affect good design? Using recently completed custom houses, we discuss how design and energy concerns worked together and how they clashed.  The discussion includes insights from both big picture and small-detail design choices that have substantial energy repercussions.
