Inspired
by the modest shingled buildings, open fields and stone walls that
characterize Little Compton, this complex of barn-like structures
combines the regional aesthetic with a contemporary point of view. The
simplicity of the clean lines belie the exacting craftsmanship such
crisp details require. Setting its sights on recycling, salvaging and
employing green technologies, a geothermal system provides heating and
cooling while photovoltaic panels supplement electricity. The original
structure was disassembled and reused—much of the flooring is reclaimed
heart pine and the garden shed has a vegetated roof.
